Dry Rot refers to wood decay caused by a certain species of Fungi that digests parts of the wood which gives the wood its strength and stiffness. This can be a problem as the rot can take the structural stability out of load baring timbers. As a result Dry Rot can be extremely dangerous and should be eliminated quickly.
Wet Rot can also be a problem but not as serious as Dry Rot. Wet rot feeds on damp timber and causes the wood to loose Weight, Strength and ultimately to collapse. It is similar to dry rot but needs a lot more moisture to thrive.
